Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship contender Michael Epps will make his GT racing debut this weekend at Silverstone (11/12 June) as he makes an appearance in the GT4 European Series with Sofia Car Motorsport / SIN Cars UK.
The exciting opportunity will see Epps swap his RCIB Insurance Racing Toyota Avensis for the team’s Sin R1 GT4 car as he tackles a three hour endurance race, which will feature an incredible 51 car entry battling it out around the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit.
That comes as the GT4 European Series shares the grid with the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, giving Epps the opportunity to take on some of the best GT4 squads that Britain and Europe has to offer as he shares the Sin R1 with Hendrik Still.
Still and regular co-driver Andreas Guelden have taken a top eight finish in each of the opening two meetings of the GT4 European Series so far this season at Monza and Pau, meaning Epps has a competitive package beneath him as he ventures into endurance racing for the first time.
With top level experience in single-seaters and touring cars already under his belt, the outing provides Epps with the chance to add another string to his bow in GT competition, though it will be a baptism of fire with his first time behind the wheel of the car coming on Friday.
“I'm very excited to have yet another all-new motorsport experience this year. I've always had a big interest in GT/Endurance racing and have tested the occasional car, but to have this opportunity alongside my BTCC debut this season is just amazing.
“I've been following SIN Car UK and their progress for years in both road going and racing cars, and I'm psyched that team Sofia have been able to offer me this seat. I look forward to working with them this weekend, the car is competitive and my god... It's pretty!"
The Silverstone meeting will consist of two free practice sessions and qualifying on Saturday, before a short warm-up session on Sunday prior to the race. Advance tickets for the meeting are available by clicking here, or at the gate on the weekend.
