Michael Epps is all set to go for the Miltek Sport Volkswagen Racing Cup in 2016 with Team HARD. Racing. As a title favourite, with the most wins on track in the 2015 season, he and the now-Rochester based BTCC team will be going all out for honours next season.
This comes after some great successes toward the end of Epps’ first ever saloon car racing season this year, where he took back-to-back victories at both Spa-Francorchamps and Donington Park, with another win at Brands Hatch GP in a battle against no less than former BTCC and British GT/Endurance driver Tom Onslow-Cole.
Team Owner, Tony Gilham commented: “Epps has shown his outstanding potential with his performances during this season and is a joy to work with both on and off track. No doubt he will be pushing as HARD. as ever to prove his ability as a top level racing driver. Epps is a perfect fit to the team and he will be looking to challenge for the overall championship honours. We have seen how quick he can be and combined with his ability to be ultra-consistent we have the makings of a champion. He has the commitment and determination, which is a massive part of his success.”
Michael added: “I’ve taken a little time to decide what direction I should head for 2016, there are so many options that look shiny as ever on the outside but later turn out to be less than desirable. I’m delighted to have come to this agreement nice and early on, the weight is essentially off my shoulders for this part and I can focus on making sure we have the best chances of hitting the ground running faster than everyone else. It feels right to stay somewhere I know for next year and really show what I’m made of.”
“We will have to work hard through the winter. We have found enough budget to kick things off and we will be working with potential partners to make sure everything is in place as the season unfolds.”
Epps will be working hard to raise budget throughout the winter and 2016 to fully support his season, which kicks off at Brands Hatch GP on April 16-17, supporting British GT.
